OUR HISTORY
The SFV-JTF was first founded as the East Valley Cadet Corps in 2009 with the mission of providing a leadership program to young students through the use of a military structure. At the time, certain members of the organization were asked to provide parking enforcement and site security support to multiple school and community events. This formed what was known as the "special operations" unit of the East Valley Cadet Corps. The unit used the classic woodland camouflage BDU as their uniform.

Over time, senior leadership of the East Valley Cadet Corps found that the cadet corps' mission was not being fulfilled and that a majority of the resources and support went towards the "special operations" unit. In response to the high-alert for the impending major earthquake and heightened terrorism risks, the senior leadership decided to shut down the cadet corps in 2016 and reorganized the "special operations unit" as a public safety-focused organization. The East Valley Cadet Corps Special Operations Unit then renamed itself the San Fernando Valley Joint Task Force and began recruiting members trained and certified in the many aspects of public safety. Although the missions of the SFV-JTF have not changed much from the ones established in 2016, the SFV-JTF is continuously identifying ways to improve the services we provided and to work towards improving the standards of our operations.
